It was my great good fortune to attend VK Live on Saturday at The Hilton in NYC. I was there with Lori Beitler and Susan Pestrichello, the partners of Stitchuary, for whom I have designed two one-skein projects for their line of American yarns from small farms.
I have been to several of the larger Yarn Events – Rhinebeck, Stitches East, etc. and it’s always so interesting the variations in the “flavor” of each event. This one had all the fabulous city aspects to it – The Ziegfeld Theater out one hotel door, the Carnegie Deli out another – stylish knitwear, stylish people of all ages (noticeably many in the 20’s – 30’s age range! Woo-hoo! keep the knitting going!) – along with the mind bending miasma of yarn everywhere. And I do mean everywhere. Yarn bombed columns wrapped in great blankets of knitted fabric, new knitters being taught in the Beginner’s Lounge – shoppers on the floor surrounded by yarn, picking out the right color combo – fashion shows and demos all day. We had a great time meeting lots and lots of enthusiastic knitters – and it was inspiring and rejuvenating – as only a large dose of Yarn can be!
Love that Isaac Mizrahi coat! Looks like a fabulous event!
The coat owner said it was 20 years old, but it looked brand new and also fit her perfectly. This is crochet at it’s best!
