The 6th Annual Wool & Fiber Festival was held at the Coggeshall Farm Museum in Bristol RI on Saturday May 19th. Bucolic setting, one horse & a long-horned cow grazing in their huge stone-walled field, postcard clouds, enough working breeze to keep the mosquitoes at bay, and FIBER in all its permutations! The next few posts will showcase some of the highlights I found.

These are two traveling members from Hannah’s Farm Alpacas. They are the mellow showmen of Jay & Jan Hannah’s group – and are loyal brand ambassadors for Jan’s woven, hand-knit and felted alpaca pieces. Check their site – they are usually at several R.I. Farmers Markets starting soon!

I had the pleasure of shooting some new work for knitwear designer Helen Bingham. She is a very talented designer with a great eye for color. Her pieces have the winning combination of being wearable, fashionable and joyful. We had a beautiful day, near the State House & train station in Providence – the colors were glowing!

Jan Hannah of Hannah’s Farm Alpacas hand knit and felted this little Alpaca, and bought him the hand knit ear-flap hat with Alpaca-sized ear holes!
The Slater Mill Spinners Guild was there in full force, working their magic. David Westcott patiently gave me a lesson on a drop spindle. He very quickly demonstrated, had me do it and magically worked it into a bracelet tied around my wrist. Don’t ask me how, or to repeat it. It was hypnotic!
